Strategy and plans for e-learning at

Sultan Qaboos University

As educational institution, you must have e-learning strategy document before establishing e-learning .

Why HE institution need e-learning strategy?

·        Systemize the effort in institution. So, we know where are we and where to go

·        To enhance learning and teaching

Strategize the e-learning is very important to train teachers to be able to create e-courses.

Our needs for instructional designers, e-learning designers and SME should be written in e-learning strategy.

It is very important to know the need that make us go to e-learning ( geographical reasons, limited recourses, limited spaces and buildings for all students  etc).

 Methods and Practices

There were some methods used by e-learning. These methods aim to specify how the strategy will affect faculty/staff methods lecturers and courses.

These methods are:

1. Design e-learning materials:

Faculty will be responsible for designing their own e-learning materials. They get support from e-learning specialists in the selection and design of online aspects such as multimedia and technical issues.

2. Faculty decides the amount of e-learning in each course:

The amount of e-learning in each course affected by analysis of the students to the course.

3. Assessment/examination practice will be guided by according to SQU policy.
